Hampton High School PFA Volunteer Opportunities
As your children enter high school, you will see that there are limited opportunities with the parent organization to work at school during the school day. While your children may think that is great, it is still very important to stay involved and to build a network of friends and contacts throughout the high school years. One of the missions of the PFA is to provide a communications link between you and the high school, and this website is one of the ways that we do that. Another way to be involved is through volunteering at various PFA sponsored functions. Listed below are just a few of the ways you can get involved with the HHS PFA.

Concession Stand: The main fundraiser for the PFA is the operation of the concession stand at all varsity football home games in the fall. Volunteers are needed for set-up (around 4 pm), working during the game, clean up and counting cash after the game.

Homecoming Festivities: Just prior to the Homecoming game, a community event called the "Talbot Tailgate" has been held at the Middle School campus. Various student and booster activities have booths with games and/or merchandise for sale. Food is also available for sale. Volunteers are needed to help with planning the event and to work the event itself. The event is usually held in October.

After Prom: The PFA sponsors several activities for the students and community to get involved with the prom evening. Before the prom, the Prom Walk showcases the couples for the community to see. The After Prom party provides a chaperoned, fun evening of dancing, entertainment, food and prizes after the prom. Volunteers are needed to plan decorations and other activities for the evening. Chaperones are needed during the After Prom.

Hampton High School Scholarship Blood Drive: Each year the PFA sponsors three blood drives at the high school usually in October, January and April. Scholarship money is awarded by the Central Blood Bank to the schools that have the best participation. In the past Hampton has won first place and graduating Hampton seniors have been awarded scholarships in the amounts of $2500, $1500 and $1000. Volunteers are needed to make phone calls to schedule donors, and to assist on blood drive days by serving juice and cookies. You can also donate blood and are eligible if you are at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in good health. There is no upper age limit and most medications and medical conditions are acceptable. Central Blood Bank needs to register 700 donors every 24 hours in order to meet the needs of our region. Type O+ is the most common and frequently used blood type. Type O+ is the "Universal Donor" since most people can accept this type regardless of their blood type. One blood donation can actually help save three lives! Students can receive community service credit for volunteering to help make phone calls, helping at the blood drives and donating blood. Donations of blood at any Central Blood Bank location or mobile blood drive such as a workplace can benefit the high school by designating Hampton High School when you donate (HS 010029 is or Code).

Hospitality: At the beginning of the school year, the PFA sponsors a "Welcome Back" luncheon for teachers/administration. Volunteers provide various salads and baked goods. Volunteers are also needed to work during the luncheon. There is also a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast in early spring and volunteers are needed to work and/or provide baked goods.

Volunteers: During the school year there are times when parents are needed to help with various activities/programs such as; Health Screening (Sept/Oct), Hall monitor/proctor for standardized testing, sell directories during lunch in October, sell directories during the evening at Open House. Other opportunities come up during the year, usually during the day.

Please consider a leadership position in the PFA by serving on a committee or on the Executive Board as President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer. For more information, please contact the PFA President at HHSPresident@HamptonParents.org.

If you are new to Hampton High School and have had positive experiences with fundraisers or activities at your former school that will benefit our students or school, we would love to hear your ideas. Please email us at the above address.
