Hampton Middle School PTO Volunteer Opportunities
As your children enter middle school, you will see that there are limited opportunities with the parent organization to work at school during the school day. While your children may think that is great, it is still very important to stay involved and to build a network of friends and contacts throughout the middle school years. One of the missions of the PTO is to provide a communications link between you and the middle school, and this website is one of the ways that we do that. Another way to be involved is through volunteering at various PTO sponsored functions. Listed below are just a few of the ways you can get involved with the HMS PTO.

Book Fair – In the Fall, the PTO collaborates with the Reading, English and library staff to facilitate a week long Book Fair providing the opportunity for students and their families to purchase books which reinforces not only the importance, but the enjoyment of reading.

School Directory – This committee organizes the directory and volunteer forms and assembles the school directory which is provided to each PTO member with their paid dues.

Hospitality - At the beginning of the school year, the PTO sponsors a "Welcome Back" luncheon for teachers/administration. Volunteers provide various salads and baked goods. Volunteers are also needed to work during the luncheon. There is also a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast in early spring and volunteers are needed to work and/or provide baked goods.

Key Communicators – Every month during the school year, the superintendent provides the opportunity for school representatives and interested parents to attend monthly HTSD superintendent meetings. The school representative is responsible for communicating middle school issues to HTSD administration and to keep our PTO informed on new developments within the district.

Membership – At the start of the new school year, this committee coordinates the annual PTO membership drive.

Dances – The main fundraisers for the PTO are bi-monthly dances for Hampton Middle School students. This committee schedules and coordinates PTO sponsored middle school dances which are chaperoned by Middle School parents.

Volunteers: During the school year there are times when parents are needed to help with various activities/programs such as; Student tutoring, Health Screening (Sept-Nov), Box Tops/Giant Eagle programs, dance chaperones, end of year eighth grade dance, and Leadership’s “Teen Night Out” program. Other opportunities come up during the year, usually during the day.

Please consider a leadership position in the PTO by serving on one of the above committees or on the Board as President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer. For more information, please contact the PTO President at HMSPresident@HamptonParents.org.

If you are new to Hampton Middle School and have had positive experiences with activities at your former school that will benefit our students or school, we would love to hear your ideas. Please email us at the above address.

Thank you for your interest in our organization.
